YCN - Peer Feedback

A lot of informative feedback gained within this crit - We knew our boards certainly weren't up to scratch and didn't clearly communicate what we were doing. Something which was a concern was it wasn't clear that it was a summer picnic pack we were proposing, there were no appropriate use of colour and iconography (which we had intended to use, but apparently forgotten about). So it basically just gave us a kick to get on with work within our boards, and reminding us of our initial design proposals.

YCN - Looking at all the seasons

Spring:
The products which would go in the pack, alongside colour related palettes.

Autumn:
Chosen products, alongside colour palettes of individual food products

Winter:
Chosen products, alongside colour palettes of individual food products

YCN - Colour Palette

I did some primary research into which colours people related to summer, to try an possibly apply to our packaging and design work. The colours stated were:

- Yellow
- Green
- Lime Green
- Blue
- Orange
- Pink
- Red
- Navy
- White

I've created a few palettes, considering the above colours.

Relating to M&S summer food :

YCN - Linking research to M&S food products

I decided to look at the products which would be included in our summer pack, in accordance to the research we did. The items which people preferred to eat during the summer were as follows:

Strawberries, ice cream, shortbread, yoghurt, jam, cream scone, limes, tarts, lollys, flan

I went on http://www.lunchtogo-e.com/site2011?argref=412A52D72A1096531774589376DBB660&btnShowAll=true, to find appropriate food products to suit the items listed, which are also reasonably cheap and small enough to fit in our pack. There is a wide selection here for people to pick from; both food and drink products.

YCN - Typography Inspiration

http://www.graze.com/products/browse/1168/guilt-free-high-tea

I came across 'Graze' and its typography on their website, its very much the style I feel would be appropriate for our picnic pack. I want to try and emulate the hand rendered typographic style, by producing illustrations to use as design factors within our packaging.

YCN - Relating artwork

The idea of making our artwork family friendly, mentioning the word, to communicate the idea across of a picnic being a family event - thus bringing the family together.

Autumn Fall, using words and iconography to show the season the pack is for.

I thought this would be a brillaint idea to propose, having a various amount of park signage in relation to a place you would eat a picnic. It would hopefully remind people to next time come along with a picnic as its the perfect setting for just that.

Using food to create an icon. We could do something similiar, perhaps using the food which would be contained in the summer pack to make, and shape a sun icon.
