INDESIGN - Inspiration

Magazine spreads working with the monochromatic colour palette I want to achieve.

A interview piece of Alex Fury, a very simple, classic choice of layout.

This is a page inside a book, but could quite easily mimic that of a magazine spread due to choice of layout.

A very simple spread, with a de-saturated image and a few sentences. I like the use of negative space here, there's a lot of it, focusing our attention on the small detailing and text.

I really like the cut out of text here, using a line to simply stop it at a diagonal.

The next few spread work with typography and it's form, using alignments to re create letterforms.

Extremely simple, yet effective. I absolutely love this and the below piece.

SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE - Poster inspiration

I wanted to start looking at posters to find some inspiration regarding the layout of my type and images. I found these, some simple, some complex.

A textured-like company logo and re-branding design.

I'm a big fan of text banners, so when I saw these i totally fell in love, that along with having a screen printed aesthetic. I have used a similar layout in some of my posters, taking the inspiration from these, along with the use of banners.

I find this so clever, using one material to construct something which is so closely related. In this case, using tree's to construct lungs, of which take in the oxygen tree's release. Very simple in layout, but so effective.

A series of posters I found which I really like, The continuity especially, by using a grid, and simple lined images, a beautiful series of posters has been created.

SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE - Inspiration

I really like the typography and the set up of using a negative photo roll, I could use a similar design for my posters

I like the vector images here, which manipulate that seen on a fruit machine. I could relate my images to iconic student related objects which use such images.

Perhaps an approach I could take to my poster layout when using typography, I could manipulate this banner like formation.

I really, really like this design, using a very limited colour palette to create a range of images; household objects and good items. I like the style of the vectors, the little details are really effective and make them recognisable.

Using speech bubbles could be content I use within my poster...I could use quotes within it.

This image inspired me to create a place setting for my word 'consumerism', using it as a metaphor to 'consume'.

I particularly like the layout of the series of these posters. There limited colour palette works well too.

These two posters are my favourite designs to date ever, I would like to approach my poster designs in the same abstract sense. I am going to try to manipulate my designs using the same qualities and layout.

I like the layout of this posters and its 50's quality. It would be a lovely way to approach my designs, considering my limited colour palette. I could screen print my designs to give an authentic 50's quality.

Thinking wall muriels...

I like the simplistic hand rendered designs on both of these designs, above and below.

I also wanted to look at stop motions directed at my target audience of students within graphic design.
Heres a few I found:

Created using simple sticky notes it looks at iconic computer orientated icons, recreates them in a sticky note format. It uses these in messages attempting to motivate the student sitting to do work. I really like this creative an imaginative way of using existing icons (which I intend to use) in a different medium, here it is very restricted making it more imaginative and inspiring when something detailed can be recreated by small fluorescent squares.

This video isn't quite the message I want to sent, but It's directed at students in the sense of being motivational and more out going with your revision. Here it suggests instead of studying the world, explore it and learn. Again this uses sticky notes.

This is a video which is course related to film and media. It shows how someone has had to save and work to become the famous person they are now. It's an approach I could possibly take with my stop motion, giving a similar message about graphic design.

SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE - Poster Inspiration

I wanted to look for some inspiration in accordance to creating vector images of household objects and layout of words and images within my posters. I found a few examples:

A simple typography orientated poster, but I really liked it's aesthetic qualities and colour palette - quite a female directed one at that. Hand rendered type could be an option I take..

I absolutely love these very basic outline images of household objects and items of food. They're quirky, recognisable and relating to the stock at hand. The piece below is slightly more detailed in that it has highlights and shadows, not an approach I ideally wish to take; the simpler the better.

These certainly are my favourite vector images, bold and simple. I do hope to mimic this style in my own images, to be made into a stop motion.

A range of abstract and conventional layouts

This is a favourite of mine, I like the overlapping and spot colour used here. Its conventional in type layout, but abstract with its use of shape and colour.

This is very abstract and different, it suits the context and title, outlining the word 'divide' in its layout.

This reminds me of CTS and modernism in a sense, its very experimental in its layout. i don't think I yet have the skills to create something like this, but its certainly something to look up to!

I really like the monochrome colour palette, it divides the mass array of text, a nice technique.

The above and below designs are among my favourite, firstly the image gradient overlay really highlights the article. This matches the pantone of the type. The abstract alignment of the font is very individual and gives it a 'quirky' nature. The cutting into the images is also something I really like, it give the images an odd yet interesting shape.

I really like this modernist approach to layout, its very simple and bold, characteristic Matt likes. Something I could consider as my main source of inspiration.

After looking at these layout, it really opens my eyes to the endless limitations there are, layout in itself is an art! Its quite exciting, the thought of creating my own after looking at these examples.
