Top ten things - ident research - Mocktail location

For my next few idents, I want to illustrate several settings in which a Mocktail can be served / drank. Typically, they are sold where cocktails are, that of any general alcoholic beverage. Cocktail bars sell more variety but local bars and clubs can sell a few too. Heres just a short list of places mocktails can be consumed:

- In the comfort of your own home
- The beach
- Beach bar
- Bar
- Pub
- Cocktail bar
- Night club
- Holiday
- Wedding

The most popular being a bar, I intend on illustrating that. It will give me the chance to work with a more up beat choice of audio, meaning I can be creative regarding movement and transition to audio. The second location will be a beach bar, I can use slightly different audio types to my other 3 idents. I could use that of seagulls, the sea, waves, and people talking.

By recreating settings, which typically serve mocktails, I can make my idents and title sequence more believable and communicate my top ten more directly with out having to give hint to what my top ten is.

Image - 2d, to 3d, to 2d inspiration

Owen Guildersleeve works primarily in paper craft, his work is super intricate. All of his work, once photographed is the subject of the brief title 2d, to 3d, to 2d. I would love to achieve his style within my own work.

A hard rock cafe, manipulating a fork to present a 'rocking hand'. A Good idea, but I don't think I have the strength nor materials to pull something like this off.

The idea of a mobile came to mind when we were first given the brief. Its the only way I could think a fork could 'twirl'. Below are a range of different approaches I could take to hanging, and displaying my twirling forks.

I particularly like the below design, the idea of the objects going from high to low, I could do this with a lot more hanging forks than the birds shown here.

Top ten things - Suggested audio

I talked to one of the 'Critters' who suggested this tune for one of my idents, in which I intend on creating a bar scene. Other audio which was suggested was 'Nature sounds', such a birds and people talking and singing.

Top ten things - BBC 1 IDENTS

I came across a website which showed a range of BBC1 idents, all of which use photography and film but I still feel they are relevant to my work. Several elements within each respond to each other, move, change colour or rotate.

Screen Grabs:

Here lighting is used to create a sequence and pattern. Its a nice idea, using christmas lights to do so, during the winter period to show the ident. Lighting is something I could experiment with within After Effects.

I really really like the transition and movement created here of the BBC logo, I have so far, used a still image of the logo within my own animation, animating the logo never came to mind. Its possibly something I could do further.

The revealing and spinning of the words and line stroke is really nice here, highlighting the centre point of interest to a viewer, the logo, and a christmas tree. I really like the way in which the line circles, but at the end of the stroke it dissolves into stars and snow flakes, its aesthetics are lovely and christmas'sy.

Top ten things - TGI playlist

After receiving feedback regarding music choice and possibilities, it was suggested I look into music played in bars which serve cocktails. I looked into TGI fridays, as, from personal experience, I know there music is very suited to the atmosphere and works well.
