Fakery in relation to consumption - Buy nothing day

Buy nothing day was a campaign in 2009 against consumerism - a well promoted event persuading people to avoid making any purchases on this day, pushing forward the idea that we as a society consume constantly, but refraining from doing so, can make a difference in the way we see and think about ourselves, others, and consumerism.

As a campaign, it was very successful - I would love to try something similar in making young women aware of the way we think and how this links to the messages we receive from advertisement, and how we buy into these 'false expectations'.
