I came across the design material for an event called Archi-rock, its aimed at creatives. Their event promotional posters remind me of sound, and movement. Almost looking light stones being dropped into water at different heights and strengths, thus the differentiating waves surrounding the circles. I want to create something which creates this immediate link.

Competition Brief - Visual Sound waves

Again, I wanted to visually explore the methods of which sound can be visually presented. I really like the way line has represented the sound of light, and the speed of which it travels. The use of colours too, the vibrant light colours on black, representing light as it were.

Another area I thought I could potentially look into was crafting, making 3D objects to reflect sound. Although a good visual communicator I'm unsure of whether at this point I'd have the time to spend.

Competition Brief - Collecting content

I've looked into the website to try and depict phrases from the range of locations but I've found the people who have been interviewed lack a strong accent, and actually come from a range of locations, some in the location, some as far as 100 miles away. I don't feel this would be appropriate or factual to my posters, so I Intend on looking into the content collected for my publications and depicting regional phrases to instead use, and design to become onomatopoeic.

Birmingham - 'Our Wench'
Liverpool - That's when Jesus Christ was playing full back for Israel
Newcastle - Ye knaa what ah mean leik
Yorkshire - See-a-man abart-a-dog
Ireland - Do you think I came up the Lagan in a bubble?

Accessorzie - Looking for nets
So I went through the packaging nets books at Uni to try and find some appropriate formats for my patterns to be applied to. From these I have created and adapted nets and hopefully will be printing and constructing them this week.

I came across this screen printed poster set, of white and black ink on a range of brightly coloured stock. I discussed with Sarah previously the idea of using an array of stock, but the white ink I thought too would look brill.

Type Factory - Timeline format
So we needed to start making the timeline poster so we looked at a few different ways we could lay out the information. I came across this double page spread which displays information in a similar way which I feel would suit our content.

Type Factory - Using spot colour
So we decided that we are going to screen print all the event promotional material. I came across this poster design by Maggie Chok and absolutly love her use of vibrant spot colour and the way shes layered text, with colour and folds, its something I want to potentially put across into our own designs.

Type Factory - Poster Inspiration
For the poster design we wanted to keep things as simple as possible is terms of layout and content. The information provided is simple, to the point, and necessary. We came across the below image of a series of posters and wanted to produce something of a similar layout and similar simplciity. The range of stock too is something we want to consider as we are screen printing white onto stock.

Casa Mia - Website Inspiration
I did find while looking at websites of the same content of my own is that the layout is very similar, I think this is down to the ease of use, they each use a very easy to read and navigate layout, a top bar showing pages, a right or left hand bar showing further optional pages, and a right aligned centre image of an advert or recent promotion. The starbucks website especially caught my eye, I liked its simplicity to layout and colour, it stayed true to the brand.
